Per Diem - ED Registration - 8hr shift - EveningsJob PostingPerforms all registration functions for patients. This includes collecting accurate demographic information, verifying insurance benefits and eligibility, obtaining authorization/pre-certification for services provided, and collecting patient liability prior to or at the time of service. Greets and serves patients in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner to promote sacred encounters. Performs duties under moderate supervision.Required Minimum Position QualificationsEducation: High School graduate or equivalentExperience: One (1) year of experience in a healthcare or customer service setting with proven customer service skillsTraining:Demonstrated typing and basic computer skills, including Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office programsCompletion of a medical terminology class, ROP or two (2) years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codingSuccessful completion of the Patient Access Training modules within nine (90) days of obtaining positionPreferred Position QualificationsBilingual (English and Spanish)Previous clerical experience in a medical settingKnowledge / Skills / AbilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to cordially, professionally and effectively interact with patients, family members, physicians and other Medical Center personnel in a fast-paced environmentAbility to maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff and clinical departments, and work in a team environmentTyping and basic computer skills to include: Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office programsAbility to handle case and credit/debit card transactions, including collecting and refunding payments to patients/families/employees/customers and balancing cash drawer at end of each shiftAbility to problem solve independentlyStrong clerical and organizational skillsAbility to interact with upset clients and behave in a professional mannerAbility to maintain organizational, employee and patient confidentiality at all timesKnowledge of medical terminology and third party requirements
